  1. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A CUSTOM WEDDING DRESS EVENING GOWN TO BE MADE?​

    As all our gowns are so unique and designed specifically for the customer, they all vary in the time it takes to make them. Our lead times also vary depending on the date of your wedding/event. We advise customers 6 to 8 month.

  2. HOW DO I WORK OUT MY SIZE?

    Your Made-to-measure gown will be made to your size and your height. Including any alterations if required.

  3. WHAT IF I LOSE/GAIN WEIGHT?

    We go to every effort to ensure your dress is the right fit. If you place your order well in advance of your wedding/ event date, we do advise getting remeasured before your dress goes into production. Our dresses are crafted from luxurious stretch lace or bias cut silks and satins, so often if you drop a size in weight, it will still fit beautifully. However, it is also very easy to have the dress altered by a professional seamstress if you would like it to be a little more fitted.

  4. WHERE ARE LAMODE WEDDING DRESSES AND GOWNS MADE?

    Each unique piece is designed and handmade in our Dundee studio, based in Scotland.

  5. WHAT ARE GENERAL BRIDAL ALTERATIONS?

    These are alterations such as, fit of the gown, length, hooking up your train for the evening and any adjustments to straps, shoulders and sleeves.

  6. WHEN DO I NEED TO BOOK IN FOR MY FITTINGS?

    Once you have a delivery date from your bridal shop, please contact us so we can arrange your fittings. We will book you in for approx. 10-12 weeks before your date of wedding for general alterations & allow more time if you are either having extra bespoke alterations or any customizing done.

  7. WHAT HAPPENS IN MY FITTINGS AND HOW MANY DO I NEED?

    Your first fitting is for pinning, where we will check and pin anything that needs altering.  This includes fit of the wedding dress/gown, length of your wedding dress/gown, hooking up your train for the evening, adjustments to any straps, shoulders or sleeves.  We will then arrange a 2nd fitting that suits you and your wedding party so we can retry your wedding dress/gowns after alterations and check the fit and make any other adjustments if required. You will have a final fit the week of your wedding date to check your wedding dress/gown is fitting perfectly right before the big day. If you are having more complex alterations, we may need to add in another fitting so we can work in stages.

  8. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO MY FITTING APPOINTMENT?

    Please ensure you have your gown if this is not with us, the shoes you will be wearing on the day and underwear if you have bought this.

  9. I DON’T KNOW WHAT UNDERWEAR TO BUY FOR MY GOWN, CAN YOU HELP?

    Please don’t worry too much about underwear, all gowns are different, and each gown requires a particular look for a seamless look.  We can recommend what styles to go for and bring to your next fitting.

  10. HOW CAN YOU CUSTOMIZE MY GOWN?

    Customizing any gown is based on your requirements, so you may have a dress that you have fallen out of love with and wish to make the shape slightly of totally different to what the gown is now or when you bought your gown you wished it had a certain design to it that you want us to work on. We will design and sketch detailed looks for you to look at that will suit both you and your gown and from this create a stage-by-stage process of remaking the gown into your new look.

    We have been designing and customizing gowns for over 30 years and we pride ourselves on our experience in this field.

  11. DO YOU DO GENERAL CLOTHING ALTERATIONS?

    Yes, we do general alterations. Contact us and get booked in with our highly skilled tailors.

  12. WHAT ARE YOU COSTS FOR ALTERATIONS?

    All gowns are different, and designers also have unique ways of sewing their gowns, therefore accurate pricing can only be given once your gown has been pinned.  To give our brides an idea of general alterations, these can be around £175 -£300.  The cost can be lower or higher depending what needs altering.

  13. DO YOU SELL ACCESSORIES?

    Yes, we have a arrange of accessories including head pieces, belts and other bling accessories. We also offer Sew in bust cups in a range of sizes and a range of underskirts to help with the look you want to achieve.  Can’t find the correct vail to compliment your dress, we design and make vail in a range of lengths, layers and details of your choosing.

  14. I DON’T KNOW WHAT IM LOOKING FOR AND WHAT STYLE OF WEDDING/GOWN SUITS ME

    Please don’t worry this is what our designer is most experienced in, if you have no idea then our in-house designer will discuss the different looks and colours that will best suit your shape, your Character, skin and hair tone. With their experience our designer will sketch a range of illustrations best suited from what is discussed at your consultation, that you won’t only feel great in but will make a statement on the big day.
